Job Description Summary

The Penn Neurodegeneration Genomics Center is hiring a Senior Research Investigator (SRI) to (1) contribute to a multi-site recruitment project (Asian Cohort for Alzheimer’s Disease, ACAD) to recruit more than 5,000 participants into Alzheimer’s research, and (2) develop and carry out gene-environment interaction analysis. The SRI will be responsible for (1) developing and maintain the database to house recruitment related data and data quality control for ACAD, (2) coordinate ACAD recruitment related tasks across sites, (3) oversee scientific activities across 13 ACAD participating institutions, (4) establish collaboration with participating institutions, (5) preparing, writing, and reviewing manuscripts and grant applications, and (6) develop and carry out analyses.

Job Responsibilities

The SRI will work with a team of bioinformaticians, clinicians, research coordinators and collaborating scientists, and take the lead in specific projects to (1) recruitment at least 5,000 participants in the US and Canada for the Asian Cohort for Alzheimer's Disease Study (ACAD) to investigate AD genetic and non-genetic risk factors, (2) coordinate study related tasks and oversee scientific tasks across 13 ACAD participating institutions, (3) develop and carry out statistical analyses in gene-environmental interactions to study modifiable risk factors for AD and related dementia, (4) establish research collaborations, (5) maintain and build databases for ACAD. The SRI will contribute to writing/reviewing manuscripts and grants, preparing presentations, establishing collaborations as well as writing/reviewing protocols and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience is required. 

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD and 3-5 years of experience in the field of bioinformatics genetics/genomics, health economics, applied microeconometics or related fields required. Interdisciplinary knowledge in project management, health economics, human genetics or genomics, and bioinformatics required.  Knowledge and track record in neurodegenerative disorder research optional and strongly preferred. The successful candidate must thrive in a team environment, have excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency with standard methods of big data integration, management and analyses.
