JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Rovniak Lab at the Penn State College of Medicine within the Department of General Internal Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Research Project Manager for a randomized controlled trial to help engage senior citizens with osteoarthritis in no-cost exercise opportunities available nationwide. Our project will aim to connect senior citizens across the United States with supportive and convenient exercise opportunities that can help them to improve their physical and mental wellness. This work is being done with funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). This position will entail a project management role, working with a large and diverse study team of faculty members, research staff, patient partners, and community and insurance-based stakeholders to ensure successful project conduct.

Responsibilities include: (1) oversight of data collection for a large trial with over 1,400 participants, including setting up data collection forms, overseeing ongoing data quality control, supervising research staff involved in data collection, cleaning and preparing data for analyses, and collaborating with the study statistician to finalize needed datasets; (2) developing and refining program intervention protocols, including finalizing reproducible intervention-delivery scripts and procedures, training research staff to use the intervention scripts and procedures, and implementing standardized and rigorous quality control practices; (3) assuring compliance with all IRB, PCORI, and institutional guidelines and overseeing the submission of IRB protocols and modifications; (4) contributing to the hiring, onboarding, and development of research study staff members; (5) overseeing the engagement of patient and community partners and stakeholders through all phases of the project; (6) contributing to dissemination of project results through diverse research, community, and social media channels; (7) contributing to required PCORI progress reports and other project reporting requirements; and (8) other project functions as assigned by Dr. Rovniak.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on large funded research studies, along with extensive data management experience, and some prior experience with project coordination.
