Job Description

We are actively seeking a Senior Level Architect to join our expanding team of experts in the United States. The candidate will work within international, multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of processes and projects with engineering systems. At AFRY our Architects are responsible for the design of new facilities as well as existing facility modifications. Our Architects design unique and challenging projects and perform investigations to make expert recommendations to clients for various purposes.  Activities include site investigations, architectural design for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Researches, programs, plans, designs, and administers building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials and systems.
  • Produces conceptual plans, renderings, and documents.
  • Produces code reviews / life safety documents.
  • Plans and programs layout of project(s); coordinates and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
  • Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans/ construction documents.
  • Working with the Project Manager, may direct, supervise, and check activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the Conceptual Design Phase, Schematic Design Phase, and/or the Detailed Design Phase of a project.
  • Works in tandem with highly collaborative multi-discipline design teams.
  • Assists in research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications and produces architectural material specifications or notes.
  • Assists in creating detailed estimates.
  • Responsible for the design of architectural systems and components for a variety of commercial and industrial facility types; ensuring the designs conform to recognized codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, ADA, OSHA, Energy Codes, etc.), as well as client requirements.
  • Coordinates with client’s insurance carrier to comply with insurance requirements/ recommendations such as FM RoofNAV wind uplift data and roof assembly selection and transformer separation/ protection.

 

Qualifications

  • A professional degree in architecture from a program accredited by the NAAB or the CACB.
  • State Registration ability through NCARB
  • Minimum 20 years of industrial experience in Architecture
  • Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements
  • Preferred software knowledge and requirements include AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with clients and employees
