Arxada is looking for an EHS Manager to support our Rochester, NY plant.

The EHS Senior Manager will be a leader in the safety, security and environmental functions of the Rochester plant. Develop and carryout procedures that effectively control accident, environmental health and security exposures in the Company in line with OSHA, EPA, DEC, DHS and Regulatory compliance. Lead the site with the “Vision of Zero” as it relates to injuries, process incidents and environmental incidents. Also, lead efforts to improve process effectiveness in the areas of safety and environment. Lead, direct and train plant supervision and employees to comply with all applicable laws. This individual will adhere to all Company ethical standards and lead by example for ethical compliance. Will be an active member of the Rochester Plant Leadership Team.

Essential Job Functions:

·       Responsible for leading and directing of Arxada Rochester “Vision of Zero” which includes the plant behavioral based safety process. The purpose is to have Zero injuries, Zero process incidents, Zero distribution incidents, Zero Security incidents, Zero environmental incidents and Zero ethical issues. Will coordinate and lead the plant safety team and ensure all concerns raised by the team are addressed.

·       Responsible for all EHS programs on site including Work Permits, Industrial Hygiene, Workers Comp, Incident Investigation, etc.

·       Member of the management team for the site with direct responsibility for: Compliance Audits, Incident Investigations, Process Hazard Analysis and Emergency Planning.

·       Must acquire a working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Document Practices (GDP).

·       Must be an active behavior based safety leader and participant.   Lead and coach the team to engage with each other through active safety observations. Will champion and lead this effort throughout the plant to encourage and drive participation by all employees.

·       Manages the Rochester Plant EHS programs to enforce regulations and to provide assistance to the plant in reducing risks and accidents. Will prioritize concerns and justify capital or expense that needs to be spent to improve the safe operations of our facility. 

·       Facilitates site “License to operate Air, Wastewater, Storm water, Groundwater, Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Waste, and Homeland Security. 

·       Supports the “Product Stewardship” initiative to ensure the health, safety and environmental performance of our products throughout the products’ life cycles.

·       Will have mentoring and leadership guidance to Arxada locations in Pennsylvania & Illinois. 

Qualifications & Experience:

·       Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, safety engineering, industrial hygiene or comparable field, preferred Master’s Degree in EH&S or other safety related field. 

·       Minimum 10 years environmental safety and health management and leadership experience in chemical industry
