Summary
The Principal Large Deal Strategist is responsible for originating, shaping, and advancing high-value, complex deal opportunities, with a focus on expanding the organization’s portfolio of large-scale engagements. The individual will act as a strategic architect of marquee deals, driving both the quality and quantity of opportunities within the GEMS portfolio.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Partners with C-Suite executives to structure high-value, multifaceted, enterprise-wide solutions across mature and emerging markets
- Leads the identification, development, and advancement of large, complex deals, typically valued at $100M+ (or as defined by leadership), as well as strategically critical opportunities of similar complexity
- Drives growth in both the quality and quantity of large-scale opportunities within the GEMS portfolio
- Serves as the primary architect for deal strategy, including structuring, positioning, and value articulation
- Partners cross-functionally (sales, finance, legal, delivery, and executive leadership) to shape and mature opportunities from early-stage concept through deal closure
- Develops differentiated deal constructs that address client needs while maximizing enterprise value
- Assesses and prioritizes opportunities based on strategic fit, risk, and return profile
- Influences senior stakeholders internally and externally to align on complex deal structures
- Builds repeatable frameworks and best practices for large deal development
- Acquires net new logos - expand whitespace in target account and establish repeatable sources of new pipeline
- Builds and maintains a named account prospect list
- Develops strategic account plans for top targets
- Owns opportunists through qualification, business case development and internal alignment before hand off to “closing team"

- Growth in number and total value of deals exceeding $100M (or defined threshold)
- Expansion and maturation of the GEMS portfolio
- Conversion rate of strategic opportunities into closed deals
- Quality, innovation, and strategic impact of deal structures
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or equivalent
- Understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive their business
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate business vision
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment that may not be in direct control of this role
- Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills
- Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders
- Proven experience developing and closing large, complex, multi-stakeholder deals
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability
- Ability to operate independently while influencing across a highly matrixed organization
- Executive presence with strong stakeholder management skills
- Experience in structuring non-standard, high-value transactions
