Clinical Laboratory Scientist III - Remote
Intermediate level position as CLS II in the Clinical Laboratory at Ambry Genetics. This position is responsible for evaluating quality metrics of sequencing data and reporting clinical molecular genetic test results. This position requires a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from the California Department of Public Health.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts review of clinical data in accordance with the laboratory’s procedures for quality standards, straightforward data analyses, reporting (when applicable), and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Provide signature as needed, to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adheres to and reviews the laboratory's quality control (QC) policies, with emphasis on documentation of all quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect reporting of test results, and can immediately advise on basic troubleshooting under the supervision of the Technical Systems Manager
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications, including initiating and writing quality event reports (QER).
- Satisfactorily complete training and competency on all tasks performed. Also, able to administer and manage the training and competency for team members.
- Responsible for adhering to laboratory policies for IT security.

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from the California Department of Public Health: Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) preferred, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist)
- Background knowledge of next generation sequencing data preferred.
- Experience with various analysis software such as Coffalyser, Nexus Clinical, or SeqPilot.
- Technical knowledge of laboratory testing and terminology is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, attention to detail, ability to cross reference information, ability to prioritize work, computer skills, working knowledge of standard office equipment (computers, printers fax machines, phone systems, office software and internet).
- Ability to speak effectively one-to-one, in a group setting, and with employees of the organization.
- Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Responsible in maintaining the required certificates, licenses, and/or registrations that are required for the position.
- 5+ years prior work experience CLS II, or equivalent, in a laboratory certified under CLIA (usually in the U.S.).
- Work Experience as CLS I prior to CLS II advancement could be considered into 5-year work experience requirement, depending on work performed.
