Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to supporting the team in applying mathematical models, advanced tools or techniques (such as SAS, Python, and R), and financial industry knowledge to business or financial data, including model results. Your efforts will enable the team to analyze or report on business performance, solve business questions, or inform business decisions. Work may include developing models or prototypes to achieve these goals, but is not the core focus in the role.

The Financial Data Scientist Senior Associate (Hybrid) role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on processing or analyzing large amounts of data efficiently using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques. Determine customer's intended uses for a financial analysis or model.
  • Conduct financial analysis or forecasting, which may include scenario or sensitivity analysis, stress testing, or attribution analysis.
  • Execute models and/or interpret model results. Translate the results from the analysis or models for the customer into understandable conclusions.
  • Work directly with model builders to vet new models, suggest changes to existing models, or analyze model performance data.
  • Perform data and systems analysis, validation, and regression testing.

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 2 years

Skills

  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
  • Operational Excellence including improving and overseeing operations
  • Skilled in the graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages
  • Risk Assessment and Management including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying control gaps, remediating risk, etc.
  • Expertise in using statistical methods, including: developing and testing hypotheses, using experimental design, and running linear and logistic regressions
  • Determining causes of operating errors and taking corrective action
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
  • Communication including communicating in writing or verbally, copywriting, planning and distributing communication, etc.
  • Business Insight including advising, designing business models, interpreting customer and market insights, forecasting, benchmarking, etc.
  • Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyzing the inputs, outputs, and process

  • Skilled in Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings, development, and networking platforms
  • Skilled in Microsoft Teams

  • Skilled in Python object-oriented programming

 

Desired Experiences

  • Education or work background in economics, finance, and/or statistics preferred
  • CFA or in process of obtaining a plus
  • Mature knowledge of mortgage market from origination to loss mitigation, including capital markets; multifamily or commercial real estate experience preferred
  • Independent thinker, intellectually curious
  • Experienced user of computer programming applications, such as python, R, SAS, SQL and/or other statistical software
  • Experienced user of Tableau, Power BI, or other business intelligent tool
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SDLC
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with stakeholders to design and develop reports and other analytical tools for data-driven decision making
  • Demonstrated experience in forecasting, stress testing, and/or capital analysis preferred
