Purpose

A postdoctoral research position to work on a qualitative research project funded by the Spencer Foundation that examines the infrastructure and leadership shaping the implementation of special education. This study will answer questions about how districts across Texas implement special education policy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews

  • Code interview transcripts

  • Co-author and lead academic papers

  • Mentor graduate student co-authors as appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in education or related field (i.e., sociology, political science) by the start date. (PhD must have been received with the past three years)

  • Successful applicants must have a good command of qualitative methods used in the social sciences

  • Experience publishing academic articles

Salary Range

$65,000+ depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
