Its mission <br/>is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without <br/>discrimination. <br/>A. <br/>BASIC PURPOSE <br/>The Program Assistant assists in providing safe, loving, and learning environments for programs <br/>under the Education Center. Program Assistant assists Corps officer and/or Education Center <br/>Supervisor to run programs including Chinese learning and Music/instrument learning. The <br/>Education Center is an outreach program of The Salvation Army / Oakland Chinatown Corps, <br/>serving the community of all cultures, ethnicities, and ages. <br/>B. <br/>C. <br/>D. <br/>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br/>Seek opportunities to develop personal growth in the following skills regarding <br/>working with children: <br/>1. Ability to relate to children in a manner which contributes to their personal growth. <br/>2. Ability to competently prevent and deal with discipline problems. <br/>3. Ability to plan and carry-out lesson plans (content areas: Chinese Language learning, <br/>Music/ music instruments learning). <br/>4. Ability to assist and conduct an educational activity. <br/>5. Ability to assist active indoor and outdoor games and learning activities. <br/>6. Ability to work cooperatively with Corps Officer / Education center supervisor. <br/>7. Ability to assist activities and prevent exposure to safety hazards. <br/>8. Adhere to The Salvation Army’s “Protecting the Mission Policy for Work with Minors”. <br/>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS <br/>1. Minimum age 15 with valid work permit. <br/>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: <br/>1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or <br/>sometimes continuous basis. <br/>2.
