Job Description

HII-Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Project Manager with experience supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense and other agencies in the U.S. Department of Defense. We are looking for someone with a passion for solving complex problems, developing solutions in fast-paced environments, and supporting diverse teams in addressing hard problems. This position will be eligible for remote work and will have on-site requirements at government offices in the National Capital Region.

 

The Munitions Technologies Office, within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, is responsible for developing and setting DoD munitions science and technology strategy, providing oversight and guidance to Service and DoD agency munitions investments, and operating two munitions S&T development programs. A small team of government civilians and contractor support staff execute an annual budget of over $80 million, plan and host multiple technical review events, and serve as munitions technology subject matter experts within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). You will be a key part of a diverse team, leading HII's support to the office, coordinating work with government entities and stakeholders, and helping represent OSD's efforts to develop and field game-changing technology.
 
 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing project management support to the government for a team of contract support personnel, including budgeting support, task oversight, and daily operations management
  • Responsible to the Director of Munitions Technologies for office operations, internal/external engagements, and task management
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through recurring in-progress review, staff review, and financial review meetings
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Lead development and implementation of new workflows to support government requirements
  • Assist with contract financial plans, forecasts, and cost assessments
  • Maintain program budgets in collaboration with government stakeholders, monitor expenditures, and adjust near- and long-term plans
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions.
  • Represent the Munitions Technologies office in independent meetings and discussions with key stakeholders
  • Oversee contractor staff supporting the program manager for the Joint DoD/DOE Munitions Program
  • Lead event planning efforts for multiple in-person and virtual events per year
  • Develop new products and communication methods in support of government goals and strategy
  • Support development and management of science and technology strategies
  • Collaborate with other HII teams to fulfill niche requirements and provide high-value solutions
