Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs US and Canada

 

We are looking for a dynamic and impactful Government & Public Affairs leader who can develop and deliver our agenda across the US and Canada.

This position is based in Washington, D.C.
You will be travelling up to 30% of your time throughout the US/Canada.
Tetra Pak is not considering applicants (Internal or External) who require International relocation to the United States.

What you will do

 

As Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs US and Canada, you will: 

 

• Develop the government affairs strategy on the federal and states’ level
• Build and maintain solid relationships with key decision makers, NGOs, IGOs, local opinion formers and strategic partners
• Monitor and escalate key sustainability, food, trade, digital, and other relevant policy developments
• Craft and implement policy advocacy strategy on the federal and states’ level related to food packaging and processing industry, packaging waste, climate and food
• Make a step change in raising Tetra Pak and beverage cartons industry’s profile among decision makers and opinion formers
• Coordinate government relations and policy engagement on behalf of our US and Canada CEO and the management team
• Brief and manage our US and Canada GR agencies
• Join a truly global team of GR and PA professionals
• Be a part of the global PA leadership team
• Interact with our business units’ leaders and advise on the major policy challenges and opportunities in the US and Canada as two major markets for Tetra Pak

We believe you have

 

• At least 10 years of US federal or state policy lobbying and government affairs experience – ideally dealing with Capitol Hill and Federal agencies
• Previous experience in a similar industry would be an advantage
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and impeccable writing skills
• Developed a sense of executive communications and sensitivity toward multicultural environment and teams
• A pristine record of compliance with regulations and good governance when it comes to lobbying and policy advocacy
• A true passion for sustainability and food policy
• Extensive experience in the food and beverage packaging supply system
• Willingness to be based in Washington D.C. or surroundings and travel about 30% of the time (flexible work arrangements possible)
