Elastomers Lab Technician

Hendrickson is searching for a Lab Technician to join their Elastomers Business Unit at the Kendallville, IN manufacturing plant.

 

This individual will support Elastomer Lab activities through the assembly and testing of elastomer components; and execute preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of lab equipment.

 

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Utilize MTS Servo-Hydraulic and Static-Hydraulic test equipment to evaluate the performance and durability of elastomer suspension components & subsystems to include:
  • Static & dynamic stiffness characterization
  • Load-deflection & strength testing
  • Single-axis fatigue testing
• Assist in developing and improving test methods
• Provide technical leadership within the lab while mentoring junior test technicians
• Conduct multi-axial bushing fatigue testing
• Conduct environmental salt-fog chamber testing
• Utilize hydraulic press equipment to assemble prototypes
• Manage test equipment, fixtures and test samples
• Support lab equipment setup, upgrades and calibration
• Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on various types of lab equipment
• Provide and maintain a safe, organized and clean (5S) working environment in the laboratory
• Other duties as assigned.

 

 

The successful candidate will possess:

• AS degree in an appropriate technical field and 3 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working in a lab environment operating and maintaining MTS equipment.
• Experience with MTS TestSuite and MultiPurpose TestWare (MPT) preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
• Regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 50 pounds
• Some overnight travel (less than 10%)
