Senior Database Developer

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA seeking a Database Programmer. This is a full-time and onsite position in McLean, VA or Rockville, MD.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Lead the design and implementation strategy for complex database-driven systems.

· Liaising with the development team to ensure the full understanding of the research approach and design patterns to be used by the team.

· Collaborate closely with user experience researchers and designers to align technical implementation with user needs

· Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL databases

· Research and evaluate information sources to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability

· Translating business functions into conceptual, logical and physical data models.

· Perform user experience research and design

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree

· 15+ years’ experience as a SQL database developer/programmer

· Experience in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and other relational database platforms.

· Demonstrated experience developing database objects including tables, stored procedures, views and table-valued functions as part of a well-defined efficient database that facilitates reporting.

· Experience desiging, developing and maintaining database management systems within Java-based environments is preferred.

· Experience Working with NoSQL databases.

· 5+ years’ experience in Agile development methodologies.

· Proven experience documenting databases including creating data dictionaries and logical and physical data models.

· Proven experience as a user experience researcher and designer.

· Prior HHS experience is preferred
