About the role

Description

The University of Montana invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor for the Department of Counseling to begin August 2027. The position is responsible for online teaching and program coordination to support the CACREP accredited School Counseling program. Candidates will be prepared to teach across MA and PhD programs and engage in research and service. The School Counseling program recently transitioned to an online delivery format, and seeks a candidate who can continue to develop the program in partnership with Department faculty.

The position’s 2-3 teaching load will include developing and teaching online courses for the newly adapted online School Counseling MA program. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to advise students, aid in recruiting and retention efforts, and direct dissertation work. Beyond teaching and advising responsibilities, candidates are expected to develop a strong research program incorporating grant funding in relevant areas of Counselor Education and Supervision.

Position Details

Tenure Track Faculty:  Assistant Professor of Counseling
Schedule: Full time academic year position beginning fall semester 2027

Salary: $65,000-$70,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision
  • License eligible in Montana (School Counseling and/or Clinical Mental Health Counseling)
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and supervision
  • Experience in K-12 school settings
  • Evidence of potential for successful scholarly activity, including grant activity
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice in counselor education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a CACREP accredited program
  • Experience supervising and mentoring doctoral students
  • Faculty work experience
  • School Counseling experience
  • Experience with program coordination
  • Experience with online teaching
