THE ROLE:

The Workers' Compensation, Risk, and Safety Coordinator will oversee and play a pivotal role in managing the organization's workers' compensation programs, risk management strategies, and safety protocols. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, minimize risk, and promote a safe workplace environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and have a passion for fostering a culture of safety.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Workers Compensation

  • Handle full cycle claims management including communicating with injured worker and staff, reporting to TPA, conducting follow up investigations, and monitoring claim development, wage tracking, offers of modified duty, etc.
  • Maintain claims tracking system and keep information up-to-date
  • Create and maintain ongoing and annual OSHA reporting requirements
  • Communicate effectively and promptly with Third-Party Administrator (TPA), Claims Consultant and Defense Counsel on claim management, claim closures, claim reserve levels, etc.
  • Create formalized processes and procedures for workers’ compensation program; make recommendations for process improvement
  • Create and provide monthly claims reporting to various stakeholders
  • Analyze claims quarterly for injury trends and make recommendations
  • Attend depositions on high risk claims

Safety and Risk 

  • Establish and maintain Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
  • Modify current emergency preparedness plans for all offices; oversee annual emergency evacuation drills for each office
  • Review and respond to client Risk Assessments submitted  
  • Present WC, Risk and Safety segment in companywide Compliance trainings
  • Identify and make recommendations concerning Client and Office safety

Special Projects

  • Assist with Insurance applications for General and Professional, Cyber Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability 

This is a temporary, remote position, but candidate must be based out of California.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years HR experience, including prior workers’ compensation claims management experience prefer
