Role and Responsibilities 

FIS  is a leading innovator in financial technology, dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients. We are seeking a skilled Cloud Database Admin Specialist to join our dynamic digital data platform team and help us manage and optimize our cloud-based database systems for operations and analytics. 

 

Charter 

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions using AWS technologies. 

  • Monitor and maintain database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. 

  • Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting to resolve performance issues. 

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive product innovation. 

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in development processes, code quality, performance optimization, and software architecture. 

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in the data and analytics space, evaluate new technologies/tools, and make informed recommendations for adoption. 

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables. 

  • Champion a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence within the data platform team, fostering collaboration and a positive work environment. 

  • Act as a subject matter expert on data and analytics topics, provide technical guidance to stakeholders, and contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing efforts. 

 

Professional Qualifications 

  • Strong preference for work on technology transition from on premise Oracle to cloud based data platforms on AWS 

  • Strong knowledge of AWS services such as RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, and Redshift. 

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and best practices for cloud database management. 

  • Strong proficiency in standing up and running data and analytics tools such as Celebrus, Quantum Metrics, Tealium, etc. 

  • Implement and manage database security measures, including encryption and access controls. 

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for cloud databases. 

  • Familiarity with data modeling principles, design guidelines, and design techniques. 

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and leverage new technologies, tools, and techniques to solve complex technical challenges and improve development processes. 

  • Experience with performance optimization, memory management, and debugging tools to ensure smooth and efficient operation. 

  • Automate routine database tasks using AWS tools and scripting languages. 

  • Experience developing engineering applications for a large corporation.
