Workers Compensation Claims Advocate

Position Summary:

The Claims Advocate acts as a liaison between all parties (clients, producers, carriers, claimants, and third-party administrators) involved in the claims process to educate, protect and resolve claims in the best interests of our clients.  The Claims Advocate serves as a resource on claims workflows, procedures and best practice and works closely with management to provide the highest level of quality control, efficiency, and claims and client service to positively impact efficient resolution of issues and claims on behalf of the insured.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Providing claims advocacy and consultative services on their assigned accounts.
• Coordinating and communicating with clients, agency team members (sales/service teams), and carriers to identify claims needs, improve claims experience, and ensure client expectations are met.    
• Attending prospect and existing client meetings to communicate the value of agency’s claims services
• Developing strategies for cost-effective claim resolution, including negotiating settlements and coordinating subrogation efforts. 
• Assisting with litigation by coordinating with attorneys, attending hearings, and providing expert testimony
• Keeping up to date on state and territory regulations, industry trends, and best practices. 
• Working with carriers to reduce agency reserves on all workers’ compensation claims.
• Engage in ongoing discussions with carriers with desired outcome of closure, adjustment in reserves or negotiation for a more favorable claims settlement and outcome for our clients
• Provide consistent and frequent status updates to the client, producer, account manager throughout the life of the claim
• Serve as a liaison between the carrier and client to ensure that all parties are working together efficiently toward a resolution.
• Perform claims review and compile monthly/quarterly status reports on all assigned accounts.
• Work on special projects and perform miscellaneous duties as required of position

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills; able to actively listen, understand and communicate complex issues
• Significant experience (5 years minimum) in workers' compensation claims handling, including experience with litigated and complex claims. 
• Ability to assess and solve problems quickly and accurately and/or quickly seek guidance when needed. Strong critical thinker.
• Self-motivated and able to operate independently in a fast-paced, energetic environment
