Production Superintendent - Ama, LA

Job Summary:
The Production Superintendent supports daily production and export operations with a primary focus on weekend and holiday coverage. This role provides hands-on leadership across inbound, outbound, and storage operations, working closely with the Grain Superintendent to execute production goals, uphold safety and quality standards, and maintain efficient facility workflows. The Production Superintendent serves as the primary on-site authority during core weekend hours, ensuring consistent operations, team coordination, and real-time issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Operational Oversight:

  • Execute and adjust daily production plans as needed for grain receiving, barge unloading, blending, binning, and vessel loading.
  • Supervise weekend control room operators, unloading crews, and support staff to maintain continuous operations.
  • Coordinate shift activities, communicate updates, and respond to emergent issues during weekend operations.
  • Ensure grain movement supports customer quality expectations and meets grade specifications.
  • Communicate with the Grain Superintendent, FGIS, ADM Logistics, and other partners on performance and issues.
  • Create detailed shift reports documenting production updates, safety notes, and quality metrics.
  • Monitor and support execution of sampling, grading, and documentation activities in accordance with regulations.

Facility Support & Safety Duties:
  • Promote a strong safety culture and reinforce safe work practices during all shifts.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs to identify hazards, address unsafe behaviors, and support audits.
  • Issue permits for weekend maintenance and contractor work; monitor for safe and timely execution.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and leadership support during facility upsets or downtime.
  • Support onboarding and continuous training of weekend staff on SOPs and safety policies.

Grain Quality & Inventory Management:
  • Monitor grain quality during weekend operations; communicate deviations promptly.
  • Support bin management, blending, and inventory strategies to minimize shrink and meet vessel specs.
  • Coordinate with weekday staff on bin cleaning schedules and equipment readiness.
  • Assist in recordkeeping related to lab testing, calibrations, and grain inventory changes.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in grain facility operations or production leadership (export preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under time-sensitive conditions
  • Familiarity with grain handling, grading, and shipping processes
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, confined space, and permit-to-work systems
  • Ability to work extended shifts and be available for emergency call-ins
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, operational reporting tools, and facility management systems
