WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced plant Electrical Technician to join our team at Shell Lubricants facility located in Wilmington, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our operation by performing maintenance and repair tasks on plant equipment. This role plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our facilities and ensuring the continuous production of high-quality products.
ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform routine electrical and maintenance on a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, motors, conveyor systems, and packaging equipment.
• Responds to emergency requests for repairs/replacements, including fire system malfunctions which may be reported during off hours
• Conduct inspections to identify wear and tear, damage, or potential issues that could lead to equipment failure.
• Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems to identify the root causes of equipment malfunctions.
• Reads and interprets manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other written installation and repair instructions.
• Carry out effective and timely repairs, which may involve replacing damaged components, rewiring circuits, or repairing mechanical parts.
• Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation devices and control systems such as sensors, transmitters, and PLCs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement upgrades or modifications to control systems as needed.
• Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repair activities, and calibration procedures.
• Generate comprehensive reports on equipment performance, repair history, and maintenance recommendations.
• Keep inventory records of spare parts and components.
• Strictly adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
• Identify and report any potential safety hazards or risks in the workplace.
• Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety awareness.
• Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced technicians when required.
• Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent, degree is strongly preferred.
• Combination of technical training equivalent to that generally obtained in a two-year college or apprenticeship program.
• Understands, adheres to, and reinforces HSSE policies and directives.
• Ability to work independently and in concert with Mechanical Technician as well as production co-workers.
• Minimum 4 years manufacturing work experience or training in mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical system.
• Knowledge of general maintenance techniques, processes, and procedures for the repair, installation, and modification of a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment, unit operation, and facilities.
• Forklift Certification or ability to obtain same.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be willing to accept overtime when required.
• Must be available for call-ins on off-shifts and weekend hours.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, stand on feet and walk for prolonged periods, climb ladders & stairs and work both inside and outside.
*Hourly rate for this role is $38.40
