Job Description
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to be based at our state-of-the-art R&D Center in West Chicago, IL. This individual will perform lab services assisting R&D Chemists with product testing, ink characterization, lab trials and pilot batch scale up. Reports to R&D Manager-Digital any recommendations on improvements of the issues listed above. As a lab Tech, you will be responsible to:
- Perform established assessment tests/evaluations of raw materials.
- Establish and maintain accurate and complete records for all lab batches, hard files and computer files.
- Operate, clean, and understand principles and practical function of lab equipment and instruments; interprets data obtained from said equipment and instruments.
- Understand manufacturing equipment, processes and procedures.
- Keep current on changing requirements in test methods, evaluations, specifications and special situations. Attends training sessions to improve competence.
- Work cooperatively with other groups in the technical department and with other departments.
- Maintain work area which includes cleaning and upkeep of equipment and instruments; waste disposal and keeping everything in safe working order.
- Recognize and responds appropriately to the urgencies of production situations.
Qualifications
To perform your job as expected, you will be required to:
- Associates Degree in science preferred. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Laboratory experience
- Ink industry experience preferred
- Have good and effective written, reading comprehension and verbal skills
- Work on multiple projects at any time
- Be able to interpret data and draw effective conclusions
In addition to these qualifications, we will consider as a plus if you have:
- Proficiency with spectrophotometer and densitometer
- Background in statistical methods and analysis
