Job Description:

Summary:

The National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project (NIWAP) team provides training and technical assistance to lawyers, judges, victim advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, forensic nurses, state government staff and other professionals on legal rights and services available to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child/elder abuse, stalking, and human trafficking.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Research Policy and Writing and Updating Materials:  Providing essential support needed for NIWAP to successfully complete its grant deliverables conducting legal research and writing which includes drafting original publications, updating prior publications to reflect changes in law, regulations, policies and best practices that are required under NIWAP’s federal, state and foundation funded grants.  The part time hourly Research and Policy Assistant will work on researching new laws, regulations and policies related to the field of public benefits, family, and immigration and drafting written publications, creating infographics, and updating existing resources and online tools in NIWAP’s web library. They will work with NIWAP’s director, assistant director, and fellow to update training materials, resources, publications and other research assignments as needed.    

  • Assisting with Technical Assistance and Web Library Support: Providing essential support needed for NIWAP to successfully complete its grant deliverables for technical assistance and training required under NIWAP’s federal, state and foundation funded grants.  The work will include locating and posting government publications in the NIWAP library. This part-time hourly Research and Policy Assistant will also be responsible to using the following programs to support NIWAP’s work including  Airtable, Word Documents, Excel, NIWAP’s web library, and Word press to assist in maintaining, keeping up to date and creating webpages, training materials, tracking and uploading government publications, and expanding the resources accessible to professionals in the field working with immigrant victims through NIWAP’s web library.  

  • Other Duties: Assist NIWAP’s Director and NIWAP staff on other grant funded NIWAP projects. Complete other duties as assigned.

  • 27.75 hours/week.

  • This is an externally funded position. Continuation of the program/position is contingent upon external funding.

Salary Range:

  • $17.95/hour

Required Education and Experience:

  • ​Juris Doctor or equivalent​.

  • ​​1-3 years of relevant experience​.
