Manufacturing Engineer – Automation

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Travel: Up to 10%

At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Large Mining Trucks and Construction equipment. In this Manufacturing Engineering role, you will work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing.   This role will provide support and guidance on all aspects of production, including compliance to safety and environmental requirements, quality, velocity, and cost.

What you will do:

• Identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions

• Identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to automated equipment and processes

• Monitoring equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problem areas
• Analyzing engineering change notices to determine any part or process change; initiates and implements all changes
• Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of automated equipment, processes, or facilities

Degree Requirement
Associate degree or equivalent experience desired

Top Candidates Will Have

• Previous automation experience in assembly processes
• Previous robotics experience
• Previous experience with DC torque tools and controllers
• Previous experience with PINpoint
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering

What Skills You Will Have:

Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Knowledge of techniques and processes of robotic process automation (RPA); ability to develop and deploy RPA solutions in various industries.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
 

Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.

 

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

An
