Classification Title:

Maintenance Generalist I 

Classification Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Job Description:

Inspect assigned work areas and perform duties necessary to insure the proper upkeep of buildings, and report discrepancies to the immediate supervisor.

Repair or replace worn or damaged floors, ceilings, doors, traverse rods, stair treads, door closures, lock as necessary.

Perform preventive maintenance on all Health Center roofs to include, but no limited to, roof membrane, insulation and flashing inspections, destructive and non-destructive moisture tests. And repair and replacement of any defect within work scope.

Inspect all mechanical/electrical equipment in machine rooms, penthouses and basements for proper operation.

Perform routine maintenance on electrical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment

Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Make emergency repairs to pumps, motors, compressors, valves, plumbing pipes and fixtures, and all mechanical components throughout the Health Center.

Perform building refurbishing to include new ceilings, walls, doorways, masonry work, case work installation and carpentry work. Provide support services to all other trades as may be required for timely and efficient repair of buildings and equipment.

Inspects all electrical doors, elevators and reports condition to work control.

Operate University of Florida vehicles when necessary.

State of Florida Class E operator license is required

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

Schedule: Saturday - Sunday 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Work days and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage.

Some overtime may be required.

Emergencies as needed; swing shift and on-call as required.

Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy

 

Expected Salary:

$16.00 to $18.40 Hourly

Required Qualifications:

A high school diploma (or equivalent) and zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferred:

Must have experience in multiple trades
