In our Workforce Analytics & Intelligence team at AT&T, we are committed to leveraging data-driven insights to foster a culture of innovation, enhance employee experiences, and drive strategic decision-making across all levels of our organization. As part of this team, the Lead Tech Business Analysis will design and implement solutions using Workday Report Writer, Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT), and other related tools to support data driven decision-making.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Workday Reporting expert with deep knowledge of current functionality, design concepts, and touchpoints with relevant functional areas.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that align with client requirements.
  • Mentor other report writers and share knowledge with others.
  • Review final technical design/solutions and may coordinate User Acceptance Testing.
  • Participate across the project lifecycle team to ensure requirements have been met to stakeholder specifications.
  • Solid understanding of the technical architecture required to support business needs and deliver end-solutions.
  • Identify strategies, risks, and options for recommending approaches towards meeting requirements for customers.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage complex requirements and user stories.
  • Responsible for managing assigned tasks to ensure successful completion of project within scope and on schedule.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Workday reporting best practices.

Workday Report Writer Responsibilities:

  • Workday Report Writer: Proficiency in creating custom reports using Workday’s Report Writer tool, including Advanced and Matrix reports.
  • Calculated Fields: Ability to create and use calculated fields to manipulate data dynamically within reports.
  • Workday Delivered Reports: Understanding of standard delivered reports and the ability to customize or extend them.
  • Workday Security Knowledge & Awareness
  • Knowledge of Workday’s security model to ensure sensitive data is properly protected in reports.
  • Business Process and Domain Knowledge: HR, Compensation, and Talent Acquisition domain knowledge a plus
  • PRISM and/or BIRT experience a plus
  • Technical Skills
    • SQL Knowledge: While Workday reporting is mostly declarative, knowledge of SQL can be helpful for integrating Workday data with other systems or for understanding underlying data structures.
    • Data Modeling: Understanding of Workday’s data model and how different objects relate to each other.
    • Familiarity with XML and XSLT can be a plus for integrating Workday reports with other tools.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation
    • Strong analytical skills to interpret data accurately and translate business requirements into effective reports.
    • Ability to identify trends, anomalies, and insights from data.
    • Experience with data validation and ensuring data integrity.
  • Agile Methodology experience a plus
  • Documenting report designs, changes, and user instructions.

Job contribution: Senior level technical expertise. Deep technical knowledge and subject matter expert.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering preferred.
  • 5-8 years of related experience in reporting and data visualization, including gathering requirements, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying solutions to meet client requirements.
  • Deep experience as a Workday Report Writer, with in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT), is required.
  • Experience with Prism beneficial.
  • Preferred experience working in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), with an understanding of agile methodologies and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
