Are you a transitioning military service member or a Military Spouse looking for an internship that supports the goal to put health first?

During the period of this unpaid internship, The Strategy Advancement Advisor Intern you will have an opportunity to participate in Humana's Medicaid formal training and engage formerly acquired skills to provide business intelligence and strategic planning support.

               

The Strategy Advancement Advisor Intern leads operational strategies in support of our growing Medicaid business to ensure objectives and key results are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Medicaid VP, COO and CMO as a strategist, consultant and implementer to ensure streamlined activities based on the priorities of the organization.

  • Actively engages Market Leadership Team in strategy development and execution in order to achieve successful growth and meaningful customer experience, including support and management of administrative budgets and business planning

  • Ensures consistent visibility for Clinical programs and project teams by monitoring and reporting business objectives, program/project achievements, and key indicators.

  • Provides oversight of clinical components related to vendor implementations and recommends program changes needed to optimize health outcomes

  • Develop presentations and materials for internal and external leadership and strategy meetings

  • Assumes leadership of complex strategic initiatives and develops long-term business strategies to support growth and revenue, identifying weaknesses or opportunities in ongoing strategies and analyzing and assessing internal processes and market trends

  • Plans, coordinates, and organizes agenda for market Townhall meetings

  • Builds relationships with executives, senior leaders across the Medicaid segment and with key business partners supporting Medicaid to move goals forward.

  • Advises and makes recommendations to leadership and key aligned partners on all initiatives, communications, and executive reporting. 

  • Advises leadership team to develop functional strategies on matters of significance.

  • Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks and works under minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration or other related field

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in management consulting, change management, process improvement and/or leading large projects

  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products, including TEAMS and expertise in creating presentations in Power Point

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare or Health Insurance industry experience, preferably Medicaid

  • Effective working in a matrixed environment with proven ability to lead others by influence

  • Proficiency with PowerBI, Workboard or other business intelligence or strategy execution programs

Additional Information

  • Networking opportunities will be provided while participating in the DOD SkillBridge Internship or Military Spouse Fellowship program.

  • Due to factors such as location, and/or requirements that cannot be modified, full-time employment is not guaranteed upon completion of the Internship.

Workstyle: Hybrid

Schedule: M-F 8AM – 5PM Eastern 

Travel:  Commute about one time weekly to Louisville Kentucky and anticipate for provider and community meetings less than 20%

Work-At-Home Guidance To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
