We're seeking a Nursing Assistant to join our team of compassionate caregivers. Our 25-bed critical access hospital allows our compassionate caregivers to provide excellent patient care in an environment that supports them in their professional growth and development with the latest technologies. Cibola General Hospital is one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe. Cibola General Hospital provides services in general surgery, 24-hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Pediatric Dentistry, Podiatry, Primary Care and Radiology with X-ray, CT, MRI. We have three operating rooms including a room for scopes. Clinics, Lab services, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Rehab, and skilled care beds are provided.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The nursing assistant is responsible for administering direct patient care and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care, under the direction of a Professional Nurse.
SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTION:
Under the supervision and/or direction of the Nursing Supervisor, Staff Nurse or Director of
Nursing, performs various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in
accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Assumes direct patient care responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor/Staff Nurse.
- Administers daily care in an effective, timely manner.
- AM/PM care, includes backrubs and shave.
- Assists with ambulation.
- Assists with elimination.
- Dress/undress patient.
- Change bed linen.
- Administers daily care in an effective, timely manner.
- Catheter care
- Carries out special orders or treatments as directed by the Team Leader.
- Special skin care.
- Collects specimens.
- Intake and output.
- Vital signs.
- Compresses (warm and cold).
- Carries out special orders or treatments as directed by the Team Leader.
- Preoperative and postoperative care.

- Enemas, vaginal irrigations.
- Surgical preps.

- Any additional duties as directed by supervisor.
- Provides patients and family members encouragement and support.
- Functions as a cooperative, active member of the health care team.
- Observes patient’s conditions and reports immediately, any untoward signs,
- symptoms or unusual occurrences.
- Maintains current documentation of patient’s status on Treatment Sheet and gives
- report to Nursing Supervisor or assigned Staff nurse and relieving Nurse Assistant.
- Assists in Admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
- Answers patient call light quickly.
