Who will you be working with?
This Materials Manager role involves a unique opportunity to participate in the start-up of a new global distribution center serving the Wabtec aftermarket.
How will you make a difference?
The individual in this role will be involved in all start-up activities, including but not limited to, internal material transfers, facility and process design implementation and a seamless transition for our customers. In steady-state operations, the Materials Manager will have department responsibility and shared accountability for EHS, Material Handling Integrity, Inventory Controllership and Customer On-Time Delivery. This position requires working on-site as an essential function.
What will your typical day look like?
- Own all aspects of warehousing and material management including receiving, cross-docking, outsourced operations, freight forwarding, supplier defective material returns, purchase order (PO) issue resolution and cycle-counting
- Assure global policy adherence, inventory accuracy, financial audit transparency, and transactional quality
- Lead annual physical inventory audit, weekly cycle count and reconciliation
- Successfully complete all month-end and quarter-close inventory processes
- Coordinate with Finance all inventory adjustments
- Deliver business results supporting inventory, customer delivery and team productivity
- Manage all materials fulfillment metrics including timely receiving, trouble ticket resolution, and employee overtime
- Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with internal customers and outside suppliers
- Drive a learning lean culture for problem solving and continuous improvement
- Support an aggressive continuous process improvement culture, using data to baseline from existing standard to a higher standard
- Pro-actively identify potential issues and work to resolve prior to business need
- Assure the continued development and growth of assigned personnel through strong leadership
- Champion 5S and Visual Management methodologies throughout the materials organization to ensure operational excellence
- Frequently present business KPI’s, challenges, and solutions to senior leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management, shop operations, production planning, inventory management principles and practices, or materials management disciplines
