About the role
Job Summary:Ā
Under the direction and supervision from the USSC Director, the Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC II) position provides administrative support for the Undocumented Student Success Center, including support for day-to-day operations, events, programs, and services provided to the campus community.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Assists with various day-to-day to compliance administrative duties, including but not limited to coordinating tryouts and walk-on procedures, maintaining student-athlete rosters, monitoring athletic participation, investigating and reporting NCAA rules violations, interpreting NCAA rules, preparing waivers as a program administrator.
- Critically evaluates and analyzes the initial-eligibility of prospective student-athletes. Facilitates communication of recommendations to coaches and prospects.
- Analyze and tracks the status of prospective student-athletes and acts as a representative with NCAA Eligibility Center staff, incoming and outgoing student-athletes within NCAA Transfer Portal, Student Athlete Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, and various departments across campus.
- Ability to apply working knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations to assist with updating departmental manuals for student-athletes and coaches.
- Disseminates NCAA interpretations, educational columns, and legislation, as necessary.
- Provide lead work direction for the student-athlete textbook program.
- Monitors compliance with NCAA and CCAA legislation including but not limited to all policies, procedures, workflows, and forms involved in the operations of the Athletics Department.
- Independently plans and performs research for the implementation and evaluation of program policy and procedures related to compliance monitoring and recruiting software including but not limited to track CARA (Countable Athletically Related Activities) logs, coach recruiting activity, prospect lists, playing and practice seasons, complimentary admission, recruiting visits, and other compliance workflows and forms.
- Provides analysis and evaluation of prospective and current student-athlete complimentary admissions.
- In coordination with the Senior Associate Athletic Director (AD), effectively prepares and conducts rules education session presentations for university and athletic department personnel, student-athletes, families of prospects and current student-athletes, and representatives of athletics interests.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of NCAA, CCAA and University policies, bylaws, interpretations and case precedent.
- Perform other classification-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, PLUS two years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
- Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty.
- Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
- Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
- Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
- Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications.
- Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.
- Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Masters or Juris Doctorate).
- Work experience in Division I or II compliance.
- 1 - 3 years experience working in an intercollegiate athletics department or related field.
- 3-5 years professional work experience.
- Knowledge and experience with application of NCAA, CCAA and CSU rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
