Position Overview

Align seeks a Junior Wireless Network Engineer with a passion to learn and grow their career in our professional services solution. This person is required to have a basic understanding of routing and switching design using recommended best practices. This is a great opportunity a network administrator that would like grow into a Wireless Engineer. Candidates must also have experience performing wireless site surveys, implementations, and support as well as a passion for Wi-Fi. Meraki or competing product experience, such as Aruba or similar products are required.  This is a great opportunity to work with best-in-class technology and alongside a great team of passionate, knowledgeable engineers.

  • The Junior Wireless Network Engineer will be a hybrid position based out of our New York City office. You will primarily work from home, but we estimate you will work onsite approximately 1 to 2 days a week either in our office or at client locations throughout the New York metropolitan area as required.
  • This is a full-time position offering a competitive compensation package consisting of a base salary in the $80 to $95K+ range, benefits, training, paid vacation and participation in a bonus plan

Responsibilities

  • Perform Wireless Site Surveys
  • Work with Senior Engineers on Wireless/Network Design
  • Learn to work with clients to develop Wi-Fi solutions to meet their specific requirements
  • Learn to plan and design Wi-Fi networks and integrate them into client LAN and security environments
  • Implement, test, handover, and maintain wireless LAN/WAN hardware and software
  • Work as part of a larger project team and under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Perform predictive studies and post-deployment survey, basic analysis, and report generation to determine the optimal placement of WAPs and recommended settings to meet requirements for coverage, performance, capacity, and resiliency.
  • Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems in (Wi-Fi, LAN, and WAN)
  • Monitor and control infrastructure performance in the areas of response, throughput, and availability
  • Work with senior engineers to test LAN/WAN communications and routing products: Develop comprehensive test plans, execute tests, analyze results and present finding to client project teams
  • Develop and grow skills in Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, security and associated technologies
  • Participate in various client projects intended to continually improve/upgrade telecommunications infrastructures
  • Work with senior engineers to ensure solution is implemented as designed to the customer’s satisfaction and approval

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent experience
  • One to three years’ experience with wireless networking, including site surveys and documentation
  • Some network support, administration or implementation experience with LANs and WANs
  • Entry level wireless site survey experience is required, and implementation is a plus
  • Meraki or competing product experience is desired
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members
  • Attention to detail on inventory and logistics is important
  • Passion to grow their career in wireless networking and the ability to learn quickly and adapt networking technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: CWNA or CCNA
  • DAS/Small Cell experience would be a plus
  • Experience with Ekahau Pro or other similar tools such as IBwave or Airmagnet
  • Basic knowledge of 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax protocols
  • Spectrum Analysis
