Caregivers in Weston Hospital’s Operating Room (OR) circulate a large variety of complex surgical cases in the 18-suite Operating Room, including but not limited to organ transplants, orthopedic, and neurosurgical cases. As a Resident RN, you will assist with various care activities and interact with patients of all ages and health conditions. In this role, you can make a difference in the lives of patients and families every day, all while enhancing your nursing skills through extensive hands-on experience and educational opportunities.       

  The hours of this full-time position are five 8-hour day shifts per week, 6:45am to 3:15pm, during the orientation period.  After orientation, other shifts will be available, primarily three 12-hour shifts per week, 11am to 11:30pm.  In addition, approximately 8 on-call shifts per every 5-week schedule are required, covering overnight and weekend hours. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.  

  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.  

  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).  

  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk 

  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.  

  • Document in patients’ medical records.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing 

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
