University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community.
Position Overview
The purpose of the Assistant Director for the University Union Programs area is to monitor the programmatic functions of the University Program Council (UPC), the student programming board. The Assistant Director supervises a Student Services Coordinator and Graduate Assistant(s) that help advise and support programs happening within and around the University Union. The UPC programs are selected and supported through various parttime student staff and a general committee of students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong event planning skills. Ability to plan and organize, direct and lead the work of others. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products. Ability to train, coach, mentor, and assess performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in related field and 3 years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience working with a student programming board.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Oversees and supervises student programming board, UPC, on contracting, marketing, logistical coordination, and assessment of the events/activities planned. Ensures the programming board is providing fresh programs and staying on the cutting edge of campus demands and national trends.
- Coordinates hiring, retention, training, scheduling, and supervision of the student programming board in an equitable, cost-effective manner and aligned with departmental guidelines.
