McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production of frozen potato products. Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.

Position Summary:

Responsible for operating and maintaining the Tator Tot processing and frying systems.  Responsible for achieving proper product quality specifications.  Also responsible for supervising Tator Tot line personnel.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sets up, operates and adjusts Tot processing and frying equipment as necessary.
  2. Monitors and adjusts speeds and temperatures of blancher, fryer, former and dryer.
  3. Monitor and controls product line flow.
  4. Inspects quality of product, including testing for finished solids and free fatty acids.
  5. Trains and supervises Tot line personnel.
  6. Accurately enters all information into computer tracking system and completes all records and reports.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a potato processing facility is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must have ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees.
  • Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Required to complete certification through the Operator Training Program.
  • Must have computer skills for data entry and electronic tracking requirements.
  • Must have basic mechanical aptitude for assembling machinery and minor mechanical adjustments.

Occasionally: Sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
