Job Summary:
The essential role of the dietary manager is to assist the Dietitian in planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Food Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the Food Services Department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Food Services Department, it's programs and activities.
- Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments.
- Assist in developing and maintaining food services policies and procedures, interpreting them for and training staff to understand and follow policies and procedures, regular performance evaluations and education to staff regarding food service policies and procedures.
Administrative Duties:
- Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, interviews, etc.
- Develop and maintain a file of standard recipes.
- Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for food services.
- Regular review of kitchen and food storage spaces for upkeep and supply control.
- Interview residents and family as necessary to obtain diet history and maintaining records of resident's food likes and dislikes.
- Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with policy and procedures; and that menus allow for quality food for all diet types and needs.
- Train and supervise staff of cooks and dietary aides.
- Participate in completing, coding and revising of the Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS) to ensure resident needs are met.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Education and Credentials:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience/Minimum Qualifications:
- At least (1) year of healthcare experience in Long Term Care Setting preferred.
- At least (1) year of supervisory experience, preferably in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.
- Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc
- Possess skills to organize, prioritize tasks to adhere to clinical expectations, function independently and make independent decisions with minimal assistance.
