Job Description Summary:

The Chief Privacy Officer reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”). This position will be responsible for setting the strategy for and leading the day-to-day management and oversight of the privacy compliance and data management oversight programs. The Chief Privacy Officer will work directly with the CCO and other executive staff and senior leadership to define the company’s vision for privacy and data management, and help the company deliver that vision. The position is responsible for understanding the company’s risk profile and enhancing privacy and data management policies, training & awareness, and monitoring and testing to mitigate these risks.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and overseeing key privacy oversight processes.
  • Ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are in place that set minimum standard for managing privacy-related risks.
  • Support ongoing alignment and integration of PayPal’s Global Privacy and Data Management Oversight Programs into the broader compliance function.
  • Leading a Privacy and Data Program Management team comprised of international privacy and data management experts.
  • Implementing and maintaining an appropriate framework to oversee and monitor the management of privacy-related risks.
  • Ensuring appropriate controls are in place to meet regulatory requirements and expectations.
  • Tracking and accounting for emerging privacy risks in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Leading regulatory relationships with data and privacy regulators
  • Participate as PayPal’s CPO in various management boards, forums, and committees, including developing and ensuring timely production of reporting on all key privacy processes.
  • Interfacing with business, risk, operations, and audit leaders at various levels of the company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in relevant areas.
  • J.D. or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven track record as an accomplished people leader.
  • Senior management experience is a must.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Results oriented, proactive, responsible, and pragmatic with a passion to solve complex problems in creative, efficient and cost-effective way and to translate global compliance environments into actionable policies, processes and programs that enable business objectives.
