Construction Underwriter – Industry Practices

<p><span>This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly launched Construction Industry Practice team. Construction is a key strategic growth priority for Chubb, and we are seeking a Underwriter to support our continued growth aspirations. This role offers the opportunity to work with a market leading multi-line product writing mid-market construction business, working alongside construction experts in underwriting risk engineering and claims, and to be an integral part of our next stage of growth.</span></p> <p><span><strong>Role Purpose:</strong></span></p> <p>The primary purpose of this role is to underwrite Contract works and Liability risks for Construction risks, with a strong focus on new business. The successful candidate will have a strong market presence, representing the Construction Industry Practice in broker and client meetings. They will also work closely with other internal stakeholders across all lines of business plus extending to colleagues in claims, risk engineering and global services to provide excellent service to our brokers and clients. They will also work closely with our other underwriting teams to provide cross-lines solutions.</p> <p><span><strong><u>Key responsibilities:</u></strong></span></p> <ol> <li><strong>Underwriting – </strong>Underwrite new business and renewal accounts according to defined underwriting guidelines and strategies.</li> <li><strong>Financial - </strong>Contribute towards achieving the Construction Industry Practice financial plan. Support the Construction Industry Practice leader in preparing financial plans, reforecasts, and predictions.</li> <li><strong>Training &amp; Mentoring –</strong><span> </span>provide training, mentoring, and function as a role model for more junior underwriters within the team. Take underwriting referrals<span>.</span></li> <li><strong>Compliance and Procedures - </strong>Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, contract certainty, peer review, audit, compliance, legal and regulatory requirements. </li> <li><strong>Leadership -</strong> Support Construction Industry Practice in establishing and promoting best practice within the team.</li> <li><strong>Chubb Representative -</strong> Represent and promote Chubb to brokers and clients. Represent the Construction Industry Practice team internally at production, renewal, and other internal Chubb meetings.</li> <li><strong>Business Development - </strong>Proactively maintain relationships with key brokers and clients to ensure profitable and sustainable growth, in conjunction with distribution and other key stakeholders.
