A Master Production Scheduler plays a critical role in Lubrizol’s supply chain and production management.  The Master Production Scheduler’s responsibility is to ensure the efficient and effective short to mid-term planning (1 to 90 days) to support customer and business needs, while optimizing assets and minimizing costs.  Master Production Scheduler must have a strong grasp of production planning and scheduling principles, as well as the ability to adapt to changing demands and circumstances while maintaining a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Duties and responsibilities are functions of the job and should not reflect the special talents or performance of an employee. 

  • Develop and maintain a detailed production plan based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels. This involves analyzing historical data and market trends to make accurate predictions.
  • Evaluate the rough-cut capacity planning of facilities and assets to ensure that production volumes align with available resources.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to strike a balance between customer demand and carrying costs. Minimize excess inventory and ensure adequate safety stock.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify trends, demand patterns, and potential bottlenecks in production. Make informed planning decisions based on data-driven insights.
  • Provides feedback and direction to the schedulers to provide operations with an attainable and executable schedule.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
  • Establishes priorities for specific customer orders.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in delivery dates to the customer experience team
  • Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares purchase orders with approved suppliers and/or 3rd party manufacturers
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
  • Identifies, executes, and communicates potential materials that need to be placed on allocation because of constraints dues to raw materials, capacity, and demand exceeding capacity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer experience, regional counterparts, sales, marketing, procurement, and production, to ensure alignment with the production plan. Address issues, changes, and escalations as needed.

 

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a related field. A master's degree considered a plus
  • CPIM certification considered a plus
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in production scheduling, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment considered a plus
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, capacity planning, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in using scheduling software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
