Responsible for leading and implementation program that supports non-physician clinical staff with orientation and competency assessment in order to promote standardized clinical workflow and optimal patient care. Evaluates performance, provide feedback and mentors, develop education programs, and contribute to staff professional development and provide oversight of Environment of Care (EOC) and Infection Prevention (IP) in collaboration with the IP departments. Through the model of Shared Governance, collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence-based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families. Assures that implementation of standards of professional practice occur.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Identifies the clinical and professional development needs of nursing staff, plans and provides education in area of expertise. Develops and provides educational programs and conferences for staff, other departments, and community.
2. Plans and implements quality improvement programs for both clinical education and environment of care. Works with staff to identify interventions needed to successfully implement workflow changes.
3. Assures that systems are in place to ensure appropriate resources and competent staff, directs department operations on a continuous basis and advises leadership on operational and functional improvement opportunities.
4. Reviews patient and staff data to measure the effectiveness of patient care.
5. Works with senior leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services in align with the system.
6. Addresses issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment that promotes a positive employee engagement, adherence to company policies, effective communication, collaboration, innovation, optimal productivity, and continuous learning.
7. Maintains clinical and non-clinical guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
8. Promotes and maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations. Provides assistance from other health care professionals within the system and from regulatory agencies.
9. Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
10. Maintains and works among the health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
12. Ensures staff and physician awareness of cost impact on organization, focuses staff on continuously building customer satisfaction for patients, physicians, colleagues, the community and other departments served.
13. Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control expenses, as well as enhance revenues in the hospital and assigned areas.
14. Ensures that budget monitoring processes are in place and that appropriate action plans are established to address variances outside of established parameters.
15. Ensures compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations and OSHA and Joint Commission standards consistently in collaboration with other healthcare team members.

Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in nursing
2. Valid New Jersey Nursing License
3. 5 years' experience in a clinical setting
4. 2 years’ experience in management/leadership operations role
Preferred:
1. Master's degree in nursing or related field.
2. Experience in an ambulatory setting or relevant area.
3. Certification in specialty area or leadership.
