Job Overview

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.
The Department of Medical Education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure track, basic sciences medical educator faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. This faculty member will primarily serve within the College of Medicine Medical Sciences Baccalaureate Program (BS).
Essential Functions
- Directing and teaching introductory and upper-level courses in the Medical Science Baccalaureate Program in potential subjects such as medical informatics, database systems, and artificial intelligence.
- Engaging with both the Medical Sciences Baccalaureate Program and other educational programs at the UC College of Medicine to support program improvement through informatics and data visualization.
- Assisting in running research opportunities during both the academic year and over the summer for undergraduate students.
- Developing and executing summer programs in medical informatics for high school students.
- Collaborate with other faculty to develop course materials and strategize innovative teaching methods.
- Serve on various curriculum and educational program committees, as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in biomedical informatics, or similar fields.
- Experience in teaching at the baccalaureate level.
- Must have obtained a Doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university of recognized standing in a field appropriate to the requirements of the position. For positions within Performing and Studio Arts or Nursing, an appropriate Master’s degree may replace the Doctoral requirement.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research evidenced by strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates for a tenured appointment should demonstrate intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential significant contributions to the department, University of Cincinnati, and wider scholarly community.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Experience in course oversight or administration.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at the baccalaureate or medical school level.
- A history of participation in undergraduate or graduate medical education scholarship.
