Job Description:

The Mainframe Technical Analyst serves as a liaison between an application area's project team and technology services. They work with all technical issues of accomplishing project requirements, even if those issues are non-database related (i.e. CICS, DASD, ISPW, etc.). Their accountabilities include the relational translation of data models, backups and recoveries of application data, performance tuning, scheduled database changes, and resolving daily application questions and problems.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone to learn the mainframe business from the ground up. The successful candidate will enter an intense 9-week training program to learn the basics of mainframe technologies and develop the skills to become a DB2 Database Administrator in the short term, and be well-positioned for long-term career growth.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of availability within a technical domain
  • Manages and prioritizes assigned tasks, executes procedures reliably, responds with urgency, and escalates issues appropriately to senior team members
  • Opens triage bridge lines and updates bridge boards, engaging teams as required
  • Maintains solutions that align to security, redundancy, and archiving of blueprints and strategies
  • Support Business Partners by implementing requested Database changes
  • Run Database maintenance for performance, recovery and stability

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years previous technical experience at the Bank, preferably in a support role
  • Strong interest in learning mainframe technologies
  • Solid overall technical expertise so as to be able to easily pick up DB2 DBA concepts
  • Willing to train in Mainframe & DB2 specifics, if other technical abilities
