Job Description:
The Assistant Director, Construction Services is responsible for performing professional, administrative, management, supervisory and technical duties. Oversee the planning, design, capital construction and major maintenance projects from inception through completion. Monitor expenses. Performs customer relations functions. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures. Provides cost estimates, develops priorities and recommends capital maintenance projects for inclusion in Annual and 5 Year Capital Budgets. Integral member of the Facilities Management Leadership Team. Duties also include acting as Interim Director in times of absence of Director or as assigned.
Schedule:
This position operates on a four-10 hours/day work week (Monday-Thursday). This position is primarily in-office with remote work available.
Compensation:
Hiring Range: $110,000 - $120,000 USD Annually Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

Essential Duties:
Proactively communicate and respond at an upper managerial level to telephone, email and in-person inquiries concerning capital and major maintenance projects from county personnel and the public. Provide information based on considerable knowledge of county programs, standards and codes. Take prompt and appropriate steps to address customer concerns.
Decide on correct procurement method and contracting method, as well as overall scope of work. Attend pre-bid or pre-proposal meetings to provide information and expertise as required. Review and score requests for proposals in conformance with established criteria. Review bids and make recommendations. Review scope of work, estimates and appropriate in-house charges for budget requests and monitor expenditures on projects.
Perform on-site inspections. Oversee matters and ensure quality on projects. Review contracts and legal documents for validity and appropriateness. Provide input based on expertise and observations at division meetings or county meetings. Maintain knowledge of codes, legal issues<
