Are you a skilled driver who takes pride in delivering more than just goods? Do you want to play a vital role in supporting public safety and statewide operations? The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking a reliable and professional Truck Driver to join our dynamic team.
About the Job – Your Role
As a Truck Driver with ODOC, you’ll be more than just a driver – you’ll be a key player in the operational success of institutions across Oregon. You’ll be responsible for statewide delivery and back haul of products to correctional institutions, other state agencies, food banks, and vendors. In addition to driving, you’ll assist with day-to-day logistics such as:
- Receipt and inspection of goods
- Storing and issuing supplies
- Maintaining accurate inventory records
- System data entry for tracking incoming and outgoing supplies
- Supervise adult in custody workers outside secure perimeter
Your work ensures that our institutions remain stocked with the resources they need to function efficiently and safely.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
The Truck Driver 2 operates vehicles with a 26,001 gross vehicle weight rating or higher.
- Oregon Class A commercial driver license.
- Must be able to obtain a Class A without automatic restrictions within 5 months of employment. (E)
- Must be able to obtain a passenger endorsement within 5 months of employment.
Requested Skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Experience hauling 53’ trailers
- Experience changing tires, installing chains and use of jumper cables
- Forklift experience
- Maintaining inventory of tools
- Preparing detailed written records of work accomplished and transactions completed
- Safely operating a motor vehicle in all types of weather and road conditions
- Basic Computer skills, including, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
