A Day in the Life

The Neuromodulation Patient Care Software team is one of the most cutting edge groups within Medtronic, defining and executing on technology and architectural strategy using skills that span a variety of domains including Mobile Apps (Android), Cloud, Big Data Analytics, Web Services, 3D/2D visualization, machine learning, and interfacing with embedded software for management and control of interconnected medical devices.

This position is responsible for defining, implementing, executing, and documenting software for the next generation of Neuromodulation software products. The activities will encompass all facets and phases of software engineering test activities, meeting all regulatory standards, to realize complex, innovative, high reliability systems that improve the quality of life of people around the world.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be working with a motivated, diverse, and knowledgeable development team to deliver world-class products.

This role requires vision and the ability to understand complex technologies, coupled with the technical skills to transpose both into exceptional products that delight users. This is a highly trusted position that requires an individual to think independently, be decisive, and need minimum supervision.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
  • Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • May work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.
  • Movements of processes, systems or products independently to enhance performance of job area.
  • Implements solutions to problems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering with minimum of 7 years of experience or and Advance degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Java, Kotlin 
  • Experience in Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns 
  • Experience in Android development and testing 
  • Experience in testing frameworks – JUnit, Appium 
  • Strong leadership and team commitment 
  • Effective communication and presentation skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$148,000.00 - $222,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
