POSITION SUMMARY: The Employee Onboarding and Engagement Specialist plays a large role in serving as Countryside's “People Ambassador” by providing a welcoming, informative and respectful onboarding experience for all of our new employees. This position requires an individual who is passionate about workplace happiness, storytelling and fostering a work environment consistent with the company core values.
HOURS AND DAYS: 20 hours weekly, with occasional evening and Saturday availability

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops a culture through onboarding which emphasizes the YMCA mission, vision and values.
- Implements employee engagement events, activities, and rewards and recognition programs to create a highly engaged culture in which team members feel valued.
- Creates, updates and serves as lead trainer for the employee onboarding program (Changing Lives).
- Administers employee engagement programs and staff appreciation celebrations (summer and holiday)
- Updates/oversees staff discount documentation
- Leverages internal communication vehicles such as the staff website to ensure employee awareness, understanding, and participation in employer-sponsored programs.
- Oversees administrative aspects for new hires such as name tags, business cards etc.
- Oversees and tracks minor paperwork and all company-wide new hire training modules.
- Assists with activities related to the Annual Campaign.
- Other duties as assigned and required by business necessity.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience training and facilitating is preferred. Must pass a criminal background check.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Culture-focused with a desire to create a smooth, informational onboarding experience
- Flexible schedule with occasional evening and Saturday availability
- Ability to solve problems and make proactive recommendations.
- Strong storytelling and organizational skills
- Proficiency in YMCA software programs such as Paycom, Daxko and Google Workspace is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times for set up and breakdown of employee events. Noise in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
