TITLE OF COURSE: Business Strategy
Section 1 Tuesday/Thursday 1100-1230 LEC
COMPENSATION
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $21.43 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2023)
· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $33.72 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2023)
· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
DUTIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.Provides assistance to faculty members with instructional material
Provides detailed feedback to students regarding their assignments
Provides students with guidance and technical support on course materials, study skills, secondary data search for their group projects
Informs students of the procedures for completing and submitting class work, such as reports and presentations
Monitors ongoing class discussion in the chat feature of MS Teams and identifies emergent themes to help guide class discussion
Maintains a log of student comments by class date and provide these to the professor in a mutually decided format at the end of each class to facilitate the marking of class participation
Nominal hours will be a minimum of 20 hours and may increase due to student enrollment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful previous Teaching Assistant experience. For example, conducted tutorials, labs and/or review sessions
- Must have completed MGMT 4P90 (or equivalent) and attained a grade of 80% or higher
- Applicants must be at least third- or fourth-year students currently enrolled in a BUSINESS, or who have completed a BUSINESS DEGREE or equivalent; and
- The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes, and be able to meet appropriate deadlines
