The Life Enrichment Specialist role must exhibit genuine interest in residents and show patience and understanding while working with communities, team members, residents, families and visitors. This position is responsible for supporting communities with vacant Assisted Living Coordinator (AL), Reflections Coordinator (RC) Life Enrichment Director (LED) and Life Enrichment Coordinator (LEC) positions, in multiple communities and locations.

The Specialist will manage all facets of service and activities, addressing resident needs in the area in which they are filling in for: Assisted Living, Memory Care or Life Enrichment. 

When acting as a Life Enrichment Director, the Specialist will plan, coordinate, facilitate and direct resident life enrichment activity programs utilizing resources of the facility and community.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

  • Organize programs for group and individual activities based on each resident’s personal interests, needs, abilities and potential as identified in the “To Know Me is to Love Me” lifestyle review and individual service plans. Formulate a life enrichment plan for each resident, to review and update according to established policies.
  • Maintain a balanced recreational and wellness program, including social, intellectual, physical, purposeful, spiritual, leisure and creative opportunities.
  • Ensure daily scheduled activities are carried out and delivered with purpose and quality.
  • Facilitate and leads life enrichment activities, classes and programs as needed in all levels of lifestyles/neighborhoods.
  • Work with the Care & Wellness team to deliver resident-directed, inclusive, purposeful and meaningful daily activities with Reflections residents.
  • Coordinate weekly Resident Outings/Excursions. LED may be assigned to oversee the Transportation Program for the community, including driving residents to appointments on occasion, and assisting residents on outings which may include driving company vehicles/vans.
  • Motivate, coordinate and support resident-led programs, committees/councils, resident ambassador and new resident welcome program.
  • Direct the Community Volunteer Program. Oversee the meaningful use of volunteers in the community to enhance resident engagement and support other departments.
  • Organize, communicate and execute vibrant community events, WOW moments and celebrations in collaboration with the ED, EC, DCR and other department heads to enhance resident, family and team member engagement.
  • Champion and utilize Lifeloop technology to its full potential, teaching others to use it.
  • Evaluate community needs quarterly for all lifestyle neighborhoods and formulate initiatives and programs based on resident feedback, needs and survey results.
  • Support residents with technological needs.
  • Prepare and post Monthly Lifestyle Calendars indicating scheduled activities, times, locations. Calendar should reflect the residents’ physical, intellectual, social and cultural and religious interests, appeal to men and women and all age groups living in the community. Programs and activities will take place in a variety of locations (i.e. indoor/outdoor and the broader community.) Calendar will include seasonal and special events.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary (greater than 50% likely). 
  • Prepare and update monthly LE bulletin board and Wall of Veterans board.
  • Maintain adequate LE supplies and equipment in good condition to meet the needs and interests of residents, and ensure materials are available to residents.
  • Ensure life enrichment spaces are clean, organized, inviting and accessible to residents.
