Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer II to be based in our West Coast Rail/Transit Team in Los Angeles, CA office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Entry-level position that would provide CADD and design support on a diverse set of transit projects including Light Rail Transit (LRT), Commuter Rail, and Transit/Maintenance Facilities and civil engineering projects.
  • Performs CADD design and engineering activities to support the planning, design, and construction support for roadway, transit rail, drainage, utility, and traffic-related tasks.
  • Prepares engineering calculations, drawings, exhibits, 3D models, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Obtains or reviews existing information including some field work/site investigations.
  • Works on routine engineering assignments, and application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Assists with roadway and track designs, transportation planning studies, preliminary design studies, and final design of linear transit infrastructure projects.
  • Works under the supervision of junior and senior engineers designed to develop engineering knowledge and abilities.
  • Works under the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group which works collaboratively across the region and United States supporting major transit agencies.
  • Prepares exhibits for presentations.
  • Communicates effectively, and works collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Limited support to agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts
  • An ardent desire to learn and grow professionally.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Able to work out of our Los Angeles, California office.
  • Master Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Ability to obtain EIT Certification within one year.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other civil engineering-related software (Civil 3D, OpenRoads). Optional knowledge of Revit design software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong technical writing, verbal, graphical, and organizational skills

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $71,000 - $110,000.
