Job Description

When our merchants make a sale, the Square Checking team helps them manage their business finances by enabling instant access to sales revenue and directly providing banking tools, including bank account numbers and mobile check deposits. Our team and product integrate with other Square cash flow tools, including Payments, Square Debit Card, Savings, Loans, Instant Transfers, Bill Pay, Payroll, financial reporting, and more. This suite of products ensures that our customers can always understand and control where their money is going. We partner with platform and infrastructure teams to move billions of dollars each year on behalf of our merchants.

We are a product-focused engineering team with a full-stack background. Our projects use data-driven decisions to deliver features across mobile and web front-ends. We also talk directly to merchants about their needs and pain to identify opportunities to improve their experience. Our team enjoys working together to contribute to meaningful work seen by millions of merchants worldwide. As a member of the team, you'll focus on building entirely new backend systems to power new Checking offerings at a significant scale. You'll work with mobile, backend, and frontend-focused engineers to bring high-value banking features to Square merchants.

Qualifications

You have:

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of industry experience
• 2+ years of experience leading engineering designs, guiding engineers, and providing mentorship and meaningful feedback
• Significant experience with Java
• Experience contributing to medium to large-scale feature releases

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400
