Accountant Sr
The Accountant Senior ensures the day-to-day accurate preparation and reporting of financial data (e.g., general ledger, cash payments/collections, tax transactions, etc.) in compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory standards and internal policies. This job will play a key role in maintaining the internal controls framework and ensuring financial accuracy, efficiency and transparency, while working closely with management to support the decision-making processes. The Accountant Senior works closely with business areas on ledger processing.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintains records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Assists general ledger account owners with reconciliation of month end account balances.
- Completes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to bank transactions including preparing journal entries and the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.
- Identifies areas for process improvement in the accounting department to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Maintains robust internal control systems to safeguard the bank's assets and ensure the integrity of our financial data and reporting.
Educational Requirements
- University (Degree) Preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3 years of accounting experience, including general ledger and month-end close responsibilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience Depth: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a financial services or regulated environment.
- Internal Controls Expertise: Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404 compliance and maintaining internal control frameworks.
- Systems & Process Improvement Skills: Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., TPG, Oracle, Power Query, Power BI, AI) and demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- CPA Certified, highly preferred
