Position Summary
An Effectual Software Engineer designs, develops, and deploys cloud-based applications for our clients. You will collaborate with teams, including architects and project managers, to ensure the delivery of high-quality cloud solutions. They report to the Software Engineering Manager.
A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Software Engineer
A Software Engineer will spend the bulk of their time collaborating with their assigned project team. Most projects at Effectual follow a 2-week sprint cadence. Throughout the duration of a sprint, a Software Engineer will participate in daily stand-ups where they communicate progress made since the last check in, re-evaluate any estimates, agree on priorities for the day, and voice any blockers that the team needs to be made aware of. A Software Engineer will work through their assigned tasks in priority order, assist the team with any issues that arise through Slack or ad-hoc meetings, perform peer code reviews, and support the grooming and estimation of tasks in preparation for future sprints. At the completion of a sprint, a Software Engineer will demo their work to the team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and innovative cloud solutions in alignment with business objectives, by designing, architecting, maintaining, and operationalizing cloud-based .NET applications and systems on the AWS Cloud.
- Design, implementing, integrating, maintaining, optimizing, and administering cloud solutions, infrastructures, and platforms.
- Evaluate, test, design, develop, and integrate new cloud technologies and processes to support existing infrastructure and modernization efforts and provides recommendations for future technologies and growth
- Support and maintain existing software functionality; to investigate, analyze and correct identified defects
- Improve the maintainability and performance of existing software through application refactoring
- Independently responsible for the entire lifecycle of medium and large features from design through deployment.
- Perform pull requests / merge requests, branch management, and build and deployments
- Build, deploy, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multiple stacks
- Review technical design documentation and participates in technical reviews
- Create proper documentation for software being built
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, IS, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
Skills Required
- .Net experience you can design and architect complex enterprise-level applications that involve multiple layers and services.
- Proficiency in C# and modern .NET frameworks (.NET 6/8+, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core)
- Experience with .NET cloud-native patterns including microservices architecture and containerization (Docker)
- Knowledge of .NET testing frameworks (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest)
- Experience with AWS services for .NET applications (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
- Familiarity with .NET package management (NuGet) and dependency injection patterns
- Understanding of Entity Framework Core or other .NET ORMs for cloud database integration
