Job Summary
The Director of Nursing and Patient Care Services provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing and patient care services. As a key member of the hospital leadership team, this role partners with physician leaders and stakeholders to drive quality, safety, and operational excellence across assigned areas. The Director is accountable for continuous improvement of clinical practices, staff performance, and patient outcomes through effective systems, processes, and resource management.
Essential Functions
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Serves as a key member of the hospital leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and execution.
Ensures continuous quality, safety, and performance improvement across nursing and patient care services.
Leads the design and implementation of systems to evaluate and improve safe patient care across the continuum.
Uses data and analytics to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Oversees delivery of nursing services aligned with quality, service, utilization, and cost-effectiveness goals.
Leads departmental growth initiatives and clinical projects.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements and maintains regulatory readiness.
Oversees staffing, hiring, training, and professional development.
Manages employee relations, labor issues, safety, and risk management.
Develops and mentors current and future nursing leaders.
Oversees budget management, resource allocation, and financial performance.
Fosters collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support departments.

Minimum Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
Master’s degree in nursing or related field required
Leadership certification preferred (e.g., NE-BC, CEN) within two years of hire
Experience
4–5 years of healthcare leadership experience
Licensure
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
